Toni Jackson - President Melvin E. Byrd - Vice-President Mr. Byrd serves as the Board Vice-President. Mr. Byrd spent thirty two years with the Michigan Department of Civil Rights where he last served as the Director of Community Services. In addition to being the Secretary for Michigan Technical Academy, Mr. Byrd sits as the President of the Board of Directors of Don Bosco Hall. Don Bosco Hall is a private non-profit agency established in 1954 to respond to the human service needs of children, youth and families within the Metropolitan Detroit area. From 1993-1997, Mr. Byrd was the Executive Director for the Detroit Association of Black Organizations. Additionally, Mr. Byrd was an instructor at both Wayne County Community College and Jordan College. Mr. Byrd’s term expires in September 2013. Percy Richardson, Jr. - Treasurer Mr. Richardson is serving in his first term as a Board member. Mr. Richardson is managing partner of Great Lakes Benefit Group in Southfield, Michigan. Mr. Richardson serves on the micro loan committee for the nonprofit organization CEED (Center Empowerment Economic Development). He also serves on the agent advisory council of Health Care Administrators. His term on the board expires September 2011. Robbya Green-Weir - Secretary Ms. Green-Weir is serving in her first term as a Board member. Ms. Green-Weir has an accomplished professional work history in and around the metro-Detroit community, including most recently her service to Henry Ford Hospital as Corporate Director for Organization and Community Partnerships and adjunct faculty position at University of Phoenix. She is currently a full-time lecturer at Eastern Michigan University. Her work experienced is matched by her commitment to serving the community, as she presently serves as a Board member of the Prostate Cancer Coalition, National Leadership Commission on AIDS, American Red Cross Leader Conference, and Interfaith Hope and Health Coalition. Ms. Green-Weir’s term expires September 6, 2011.
Rory Williams – Member Mr. Williams is serving in his first term as a Board member. Mr. Williams is an automotive engineer with General Motors Corporation. Carol Fleming - Member Ms. Fleming is serving her first team as a Board member. Ms. Fleming is an educational leader whose education and professional work history reflect an abiding commitment to at-risk children. She is a certified teacher endorsed in special education, 9th grade science and K-8 all subjects, and as a special education teacher consultant. Ms. Fleming's education background includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Special Education, a Master of Education degree in Secondary Special Education, Bilingual/Multicultural Education coursework, and Brain Based Research Certificate. She is also working towards a post-graduate degree in Curriculum and Instruction. Ms. Fleming's term expires September 6, 2014. Gilda Ford - Member Ms. Ford is a certified teacher served as a board member from 2004-2007, and rejoined the board in 2011. Ms. Ford holds a Bachelors Degree in Social Science from Madonna University, and a Masters Degree in Elementary Education from Michigan State University. Her term with the Board expires September 2013. |
