Performance Awards Program For Intervention, Special Subject and Other Staff

The Performance Awards Program – K-8 Intervention and Special Subject Teachers is open to full-time K-8 “special” subject teachers, reading and math specialists, special education/services staff, instructional aides, preschool and 21st Century staff who were with MTA as of November 15, 2010.

Unlike the K-8 general education program, participating intervention and special subject staff members can earn financial awards through a competitive process involving the development and implementation of a program designed to benefit the Academy and its clients. Participants will do all of the following:

  • Alone or with a partner, design a program beneficial to our students and/or parents to be implemented the following school year. The program activities must be outside of any staff member’s normal scope of duties – it must be an ‘extra’ service.
  • Complete and submit the attached proposal form (SEE BELOW) and include all relevant information. The form is due not later than April 13, 2011.
  • Present your planned program to a panel comprised of MTA community members, which may include Board and staff members, parents, and school supporters. Participants should be prepared to answer questions from panel members. Panel presentations will be conducted in May 2011.
  • Based on the information you provide, panel members will evaluate your program against other approved programs and select winners in rank order, with the best program receiving the first place prize, etc. Winners will be announced at the program banquet in June 2011. Half of the monetary award will be paid at that time.
  • If your program is selected, you will be given direction to implement the program as described in the 2011-12 school year. If materials and supplies or other resources are required, arrangements will be made.
  • Upon completion of your program, you will present the program’s outcomes to the panel, which will authorize the payment of the other half of the award.
