Michigan Technical Academy Middle School Recognized as a Top School by the Skillman Foundation.

MORE RECOGNITION:  MTA RECOGNIZED AS ONE OF 16 SCHOOLS "BEATING THE ODDS" BY MICHIGAN DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION."
For the second straight year, the Department of Education recognized MTA Middle School as one of a very select few schools that are "beating the odds" by proving that high academic achievement and high academic risk factors are not mutually exclusive. Our K-8 students' performance increases steadily throughout our program, showing that parents and students who commit to MTA will find a high level of success. While we're very thankful for the attention by the Department, we're even more appreciative of the recognition by our families -- they know firsthand the value of our program.

NEW: 21st Century Community Learning Center
MTA announces expansion of 21st Century Community Learning Center after school  and summer program! Beginning summer 2010, our program will operate at our new grade 5-8 campus in Redford and our grade 2-4 site in Detroit. MTA is the proud recipient of $1.5 million in funding from the Federal Government to provide afterschool academic, recreation and mentoring services to students. The no-cost program operates Monday through Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and for several weeks during the summer. Students in the program will receive extra tutoring, homework assistance, recreation and athletic opportunities and interact with nonprofit organization and civic leaders in our community. As always, students and parents interested in applying for the program may call Program Director Sherri Menifee at 313-537-9311 or email at smenifee@mtacademy.org.
